Gonna get this place rolling again

Gonna get this place rolling again

Postby countryjoe on Thu Feb 12, 2009 4:18 pm

Okay like I said in my blog the other day I'm going to try to get this forum off the ground again. Of course it's gonna take more than just me to do it. I have noticed lately that other forums I browse are also slow at the moment, not sure why though.

So if you have a shop, collect stuff, need info on vintage collectibles or are in the process of building a website or need a little SEO help may be we can help you. Add a little blip about yourself or your shop and a few shop links. Free advertising never hurt.

Hey Country Joe:
I agree with you about the free advertising... I ran a forum on another website I managed and it was sometimes challenging getting people to participate. I could never quite figure that out. Anyway, keep on posting, I hope more visitors find the Eclectic Collectibles Forum and participate to network with others interested in vintage stuff. Thanks for running the forum!

Hi CJ,
Thanks for the update on the new forum. It looks GREAT!
I've been trying to get my shops stocked and my blog updated, but lack of time and energy have plagued me of late. So much is on my plate, that some days it difficult to even function.
I was happy to hear from you ... perhaps it will help me to focus and get moving.
Hope you are doing well ... and a HI to all!
Best wishes, Barb

Hi Barb, good to hear from you, wondered where evey one went. Tough to keep a forum going with no posters. I know about the 'having time' factor.
Shops and blogs have been keepin me busy plus I had a few bad times from chemo treatments a few months ago and got way behind on doing stuff. Now I might be going back on treatments again. But ya just gotta keep moving forward.

HI Joe: I have to agree with you time seems to get the better of me. Between all the stuff to doin the house and the pain in the butt cats, it seems like there is no time for anything. I have been spending a lot of time trying to organize my site but it seems like every time I get it right the owners change something and the site goes bonkers. Oh well. But again I am trying to get as much as I can on my site but it does not seem to be getting anywhere with all the searching and everything. But I try. I think this market is very slow but I hope it will pick up soon. Selling is not easy. Also by the way I have put my house up for sale here in Texas and I am going back to NJ I think. It is pretty centain that I will be back if I can sell my house soon. The market is slow so I will see what will happen. I think I found a place to go to in NJ but I am not sure about it one hundred percent yet. Do you live in an adult community in Lakewood. I have a place in south Jersey that looks nice. I will let you know if I am coming back for sure when I sell my house here. Good Luck with all your tests and get better soon. Say hello to Jan and wish her all the best Marge

Hi Marge, yeah where does all the time go?
Thought I was getting a handle on it and then found out I need to go back on chemo, sort of a maintenance dose but 5 days a week for 2 weeks and then a week off and then cycle around again. Going to end Friday markets but will push to get Sundays in. Hopefully it's a light enough dose that it does wreck my system again. Guess we'll find out.
Let me know when your heading back this way.

Changed the chemo to once a week' little larger dose. This way it doesn't wipe me out like last time.
Maybe weather will cooperate and I can get a market in on Friday.

"ya just gotta keep moving forward" ... how so very true! AND of course one always has to keep thinking positive.

CJ, I'm so sorry to hear about the chemo treatments again. Glad to hear that it will be a once a week dose to keep you from getting so wiped out. I'll keep positive thoughts that this time will finally knock it out!!! Gotta' get you better for good! Hope you and Jan have a Happy Father's Day!

Marge, did you get my email? I never heard back and hoped that you received it.

I'm still at RL (pathetic little store I have there ... haven't replaced what people purchased). I also have an unopened shop at Presto Store. I'm going to 'hopefully' be able to set tomorrow aside to work on adding to both. I'd like to be able to open Presto soon. When I do, I'll post the links.

QUESTION ... how do I set the site to send me emails when there are new posts???? I thought I had it set, but apparently I didn't.

Happy Father's Day to all .. Barb

Hi Barb: I am sorry but I do not remember your email but I would have answered it had I gotten it. If you have any information for me or anything please email me again. My email is mc630ine@aol.com. Again I am sorry. Marge at Cassie's Old Stuff.

Marge,
I just emailed you the email the original email you sent to me in May and my answer.
I'm not sure that what I wrote to you got to you the first time. Let me know if you don't receive it this time.
Talk soon, Barb

Hello ... hello ... hello! Is that an echo I hear? LOL

Anyhow I wanted to stop by and say 'hi' to anyone that may happen to see this message.

I'm still here and do stop by now and then .... and I wish that more people would write and talk about whatever may be happening in their corner of the world, no matter what. I for one would always listen.

As for our family there always seems to be constant changes and A LOT happening. Of course most of that requires time and work. Life seems to revolve around our daughter, work, visitors, remodeling/updating portions of the house, PT (AGAIN), weeds, weeds and more weeds that always seem to creep back in the yard. That is about the only reason why I like winter ... of course in winter there's also no bugs! lol

As for my selling online, I am attempting it again but 'time' is a factor. But it is something that I desperately need to work on doing.

Marge, I sent that email off to you a second time and still not sure you got it. BUT if you're searching for another venue, you might try Presto Store. I'm STILL in the process of opening one there. Any questions I have are usually answered quite quickly.

Joe, I hope that you are doing as best as can be expected. I do think of you often and wish you the very best. How's chemo going? Do you see Dana much? I'm sure her life has become even busier with the girls getting older. I had hoped at one point to make it out to NJ to visit my brother and his family .... but they beat me to it and are coming in a few weeks. Still though .. I'd love to get to one of your auctions. I've never been to one and think it might be something to experience, as well as meet you and Dana.

Well ... how's this for a message? LOL I'll try to come around more often. BUT how do we get the others to stop in too???

Hope everyone is having a great summer!

Best wishes to all ... Barb

Hi Barb, Seems like most forums are pretty slow, even Auctionbytes. Yes, time is a factor, more time needed to work shops to sell less.
Stopped the chemo, was knocking me down more than helping anything.
Haven;t seem Dana in a looong time.

Hi Joe: I have been lax on being on your forum. But maybe I will have some more time now. I have my house up for sale and so far no takers but I am optimistic. I will see what happens. But I have been busy I have packed a lot of stuff up already in case. My site is finally a little more settled but not selling much but I have lookers which is good I think. I hope that you are finally away from chemo for awhile. And I hope you are feeling better now. I am in pretty good health just got my result from my cancer and it was good. So I guess that is looking forward to another year. How is everything in NJ I have not been there for awhile. But I hope to be going back to the Northeast soon but maybe not NJ. I have been looking in Delaware because of the outlook for NJ and the crazy Governor who is not the best. My son says to stay out of NJ because of his governing. Well I hope that you and Jan are good and hope to be able to see you soon. Marge

Hi Marge, quit the chemo, was wrecking me. They say they can't fix it and no use in being sick from the chemo to maybe catch a little more time in the long run. Rather feel better and live life. Like they say "you're here till ya ain't". Have no plans on going anywhere anyhow.
Jersey is Jersey, you do what ya gotta and keep rolling.
